Consultations With Dr. Shoemaker

A common question we get is "What do I do if my BIRS© test is positive?" One option is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Shoemaker in Pocomoke City, Maryland. Another option is to find an MD that will act as primary and have Dr. Shoemaker consult by phone. For the latter, some pre-work MUST be completed prior to the phone consult and mailed to Dr. Shoemaker. This pre-work includes:

  1. A copy of your payment reciept for Test Package 2 or 3.
  2. The results of your on-line BIRS© test(s) (including your symptoms, VCS test result for each eye, and BIRS test score)
  3. Your primary physician must complete a 2 paragraph history, together with a symptom roster (see Consulation Pre-Work document on this page for the symptom list).
  4. The following labs must be completed (see the lab order sheet for more details):
    • HLA DR by PCR
    • MMP9
    • MSH at LabCorp (NOT Immune Sciences lab in LA)
    • Leptin (at Quest)
    • VEGF
    • C3a and C4a (both at National Jewish Center in Denver and NOT at CAMBRIDGE)
    • Deep aerobic nasal culture using API-STAPH technique

Phone consults between Dr. Shoemaker and your primary physician are included in Test Packages 2 or 3 and will be limited to 10 minutes.
